Employee Highlight: Meet Jared Barton

Posted on Dec 17, 2014

Where did you grow up and go to school?

I grew up in Citrus Heights, California and graduated from U. C. Davis.

What other jobs have you had before Bethany Associates?

Before I worked for Bethany Associates, I was a purchasing agent for a local yacht company.

What skills have you learned from previous employment?

I learned that listening is the most powerful tool for growing a good business relationship. It is easy for people to think only of their interests and not truly listen to another person’s concerns. The most satisfying business relationships, however, are based on hearing the other person’s interests, needs or desires and responding to them. Previous employment has taught me the importance of listening well in order to give my customers the best possible service.

How long have you been employed with Bethany Associates?

I have worked with Bethany Associates for fifteen years.

What does a typical day look like for you?

My job varies quite a bit. I might pressure wash a home or business, clean windows for a homeowner or close a deal on some sales work. On other days I will supervise a technician working on a new level of certification for our company. I especially enjoy interacting with the many home and business owners I meet each week.

What needs and challenges are you able to meet for people?

I can provide any professional cleaning service our company offers. I also do a lot of infield research and development for our products and services. At Bethany Associates, we spend a lot of time and energy developing our technical knowledge, so we can help answer customers’ questions regarding substrates, chemicals, and other product developments in the industry. I look forward to answering our customers’ questions for any substrate—anything from the top of the roof to the foundation of a building.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

I find my interactions with our customers the most rewarding part of my job. I do a lot of residential work and meet some really terrific people. I get to see families change and grow over the years. I’ve found getting to know these people is the most valuable and rewarding aspect of my job.

Tell us about your family and what you did for vacation this past year.

I’m married and have a little boy. Last year we went to Disneyland and we really enjoyed it. If you haven’t gone, it is well worth the trip!
