Employee Highlight: Meet Technician Tim Niles

Posted on Mar 21, 2014

Where did you grow up and go to school?

I grew up in West Edmeston, New York and I graduated from high school at Mount Markham Central School.

What other jobs have you had before Bethany Associates?

For a few years I was employed at a school doing property maintenance work. Later on I worked at a manufacturing plant, painting for a number of years.

What skills have you learned from previous employment?

I learned how to multi-task at a greater level with other people. At the manufacturing plant, my team and I were not only responsible for the maintenance of the paint bays, but the inventory of the paint and safe handling and storage of hazardous materials as well. We effectively worked as a team to create ways of handling these responsibilities while meeting our painting quota.

How long have you been employed with Bethany Associates?

I have been employed with Bethany for almost fourteen years.

What does a typical day look like for you?

Currently I am a route manager for a commercial window cleaning and pressure-washing route. I usually am in the field performing the work, sometimes pressure washing by myself or doing window cleaning with some of the other employees. I do a lot of scheduling, sales, and as needed, special services for our customers. I am also involved in training some of our new employees.

What needs and challenges are you able to meet for people?

I have been able to serve our customers for many years by providing them with consistent, quality and reliable service. I handle special service requests that come up due to an important visit, inspection, or special family gathering. I regularly adjust my schedule to best meet all of our customers’ needs.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

I enjoy providing a good quality service for our customers and developing my relationship with them. I also enjoy working with my fellow employees and getting to know them more. I have enjoyed many years of building a service with other employees who have a vision for producing quality service.

Tell us about your family and what you did for vacation this year.

I have two wonderful sons, Jordan and Derek. (My wife passed away five years ago.) We have a lot of good times together. For vacation we usually travel farther North to see extended family and also to do some hiking and relaxing by ourselves. This past year we had a nice time exploring parts of southwestern Vermont. We love to spend time in scenic mountainous areas.
